How much is at stake in your portfolio of disputes?

Each case with today’s value and the range it may move in. The total, where it concentrates and which cases need a better number.

Cases in the portfolio

Base date: (today)

Example data. Replace with your portfolio’s cases.

A nickname per case is enough; party names are not needed. The central value is today’s best estimate; minimum and maximum, the range it may fall in.

What the instrument measures

The economic exposure of a portfolio of disputes: how much is at stake, how it is distributed and where each number came from.

The central value of each case is added, never the extremes. A case without a value counts but does not add.

What it does not measure

  • Not an accounting provision or the claim value.
  • It does not estimate probability of success or return on litigation.
  • It does not rank cases by attractiveness or decide which to litigate.
  • It does not replace actuarial methods for mass portfolios.
  • Not an expert report or opinion.
